Usually I write something first, then illustrate it. Words first, pictures after.

But why not try it backwards? These peculiar illustrations are all from my poems in Dirty Dog Boogie, Cabbagehead and Nothing Beats A Pizza. Click on them for printouts and see what comes to mind for a poem or story... an observation or joke... perhaps even a TV commercial or billboard (for instance, maybe the weird runningshoe is a brand new product that works like a mini-car). Change the pictures any way you want, or scrap them and start new ones. I bet your writing ideas will be completely different from mine.
